Note: I have received my first live publication from Phi Beta Kappa. Check out my article at this link!

If you are hanging on wondering what happened with my grad school applications… Prepare for an update! I have good(ish) news and bad news. You should read my blog post “I’ll Never Write Again” to know why I always do the bad news first. The bad news is: that in the past 2 days, I have received four flat-out rejections. The rejections are Syracuse (I never held much hope for that), Michigan (I actually wasn’t thrilled about possibly moving to Michigan, so it works out), Cornell (yeah, I figured it was super unlikely also), and Oregon State (that one really hurt). I truly wanted the opportunity to go to Oregon State, so that one was extremely painful. I have three more responses pending, but two of those are most likely a no due to an error in processing my recommendations. Still, there’s good(ish) news!

Here it is: I have been placed on the waitlist at UC Riverside! UCR is my dream school, no kidding. This is only good-ish news because there’s still a pretty sizeable possibility that it will turn into a rejection later. Going to UCR would mean that I can stay in California, which I love, and be close to family and friends WHILE having my personal goals come to fruition. So, here’s where I ask everyone who follows my blog: PLEASE send me positive energy to get a spot! My daughter says that I’m like the character of Star Trek: TNG’s episode, “Where No One Has Gone Before,” The Traveler. I welcome all well wishes and prayers for this to work out for me. I will direct your positive energy into this goal. Your positivity will not cost you anything, and if it works, you will get a huge return on your investment! If and when I get in, I will thank every single person who has believed in me. Not only that, I will literally never forget it. I hope, more than anything, that I can send you, my teachers from Grossmont, and all my recommenders at UCI the wonderful news that your faith in me wasn’t misplaced. If you’re sending out positive energy for me, please clap this post so I know! Thanks, friends.
