Author Update #20

It would seem that things are going my way for a little while! I am now a (remote) paid writing intern with Phi Beta Kappa’s National Office in Washington, D.C. I will be working with their magazine publication, The Key Reporter. Additionally, I have been approved to become an Outschool teacher. If you are unfamiliar with Outschool, it is a platform for skilled individuals with a passion for teaching to reach learners who might not get the specialized learning environment they need locally. Outschool learning grew in popularity during the COVID pandemic, when many schools were closed, but maintains a wonderfully diverse portfolio of skilled educators in a variety of topics.

For my inaugural Outschool course, I am offering a brief overview of the class I taught at UCI during my time there, “Intro to Graphic Memoirs.” I plan to truncate the 10-week course into a single session that covers the ideas discussed in that course, in broad strokes. It will be later coupled with an opportunity to take the full 10-week course. The single session offering will be $15 per learner, and only available to those between the ages of 13 and 18 years, per Outschool limitations. While this might not reflect my general Medium readership, it might be a great gift for a young person in your life to get the head-start experience of a university-level elective.

Given these exciting advances, I will be very busy for a while. I hope to continue to post essays and opinion pieces here, as I see fit. Some of the works published in my blog may also disappear in the coming months, as I prepare for new publication submissions and possible Master’s program work. If you haven’t read my previous works in the topics of feminist thought, non-binary identity, and/or neurodiversity (and more!) then I would highly suggest reading through my back catalog before it is removed. If you are able to attend my Outschool course, I’d love to see you there!
