Author Update #25
Finally, here’s a link to my last article with Phi Beta Kappa’s The Key Reporter: “Book Notes: Philosophical Siblings by Jane F. Thrailkill.” It is tough jumping off that experience, since it meant so much to me. Now, onto my work at Antioch for the time being. Since I am currently working with others at the institution, I do not wish to go into too much detail about my experiences there thus far, but I will say that they have been challenging. I am extremely conflicted over whether the school is a fit for me. I loved being at UCI, and only doubted it occasionally, but my experience here has been different. I wish I could feel 100% certain, since this is my life dream we’re talking about. I want an experience that comprehensively represents my goals. I am going to give it a real effort, but I still have my reservations.
In other news, I am finally starting to emerge from one of the most absolutely grueling moving experiences I’ve ever had. My family and I are now happily in Claremont, CA in a house that we really enjoy (except for a few minor issues). We will be spending the next two years or so preparing to buy a home for us to settle down in — hopefully here in Claremont or maybe Pomona. After spending about a week in Culver City during my residency period, I realized that I am just not cut out for major city life any more. Which is a really weird understanding to come to as a child of San Diego. But, I am hopeful that Claremont will be a good home for us.
